Still — Support
Still stops the videos and audio that websites start on their own. Anything you start yourself plays straight away. Here is how to switch it on, and what to do when a site behaves oddly.
Turning it on
1. Open Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions.
2. Switch Still on.
3. Tap Still → Permissions → All Websites → Allow.
Open any news site: the count in the Still app starts going up as soon as a video is stopped.
A video I wanted does not start
Tap the video, its play button, or the small Play chip Still adds to videos without controls. Your tap always starts it.
On sites where you always want autoplay — a music player, a live stream — open the popup and switch Still off for that site.
Animated clips stopped moving
Short silent loops that stand in for GIFs keep playing with the default “Allow GIFs” setting. If you chose “Stop”, switch back to “Allow GIFs” in the popup or in the app’s Behaviour tab.
A video still starts on its own
Check that the site is allowed in Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions → Still → Permissions. Some players draw video on a canvas or in a way Safari does not expose to extensions; email us the site and we will look at it.
