Nocturne — Support

[email protected]

Nocturne turns any website dark: it uses the site’s own dark theme when one exists, and recolours the page when it does not, leaving images and brand colours intact. Here is how to switch it on, and what to do when something looks wrong.

Turning it on

1. Open Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions.

2. Switch Nocturne on.

3. Tap Nocturne → Permissions → All Websites → Allow. Without that permission the extension cannot darken anything.

A site stays light

Check that permission is set to Allow for that site.

Some interfaces are drawn on a canvas rather than in HTML — maps and design tools especially. Nocturne skips those deliberately: recolouring them would damage your own content rather than the interface.

From the extension popup you can force a different mode for that one site. Recolour or Invert will work where Site theme finds nothing.

A site is darkened badly

Open the popup and change the mode for that site. The choice is remembered for that domain only.

If you would rather leave it alone, switch the site toggle off in the popup.

Settings do not match between the app and Safari

The app and the extension share settings through an App Group. If they drift, close and reopen the app: syncing happens when the app opens and whenever the extension starts. The most recent change always wins.
