Nocturne — Privacy

Last updated 14 September 2026

Nocturne is a Safari extension that renders websites with a dark colour scheme. It does not collect, transmit or sell any personal data. It has no servers, no accounts, and contains no analytics or tracking of any kind.

1. Data we collect

None. Nocturne collects no personal data, keeps no record of your browsing, and sends nothing to us or to anyone else.

The App Store privacy card for this app is declared as “Data Not Collected”.

2. Why the extension asks for website access

To darken a page, Nocturne has to read its colours and apply its own stylesheet. Safari describes this permission as “can read and alter web pages”.

All of that happens on your device, while the page is open. Page content is never stored, copied or transmitted.

3. Settings

Your preferences — mode, palette, fine-tuning, schedule, per-site rules — are stored on the device only, in the extension’s local storage and an App Group shared with the app. They never leave the phone.

Deleting the app deletes the settings with it.

4. Network

Nocturne contacts no server of ours. The only network request it ever makes is for a stylesheet belonging to the site you are already visiting, when the browser will not expose it directly — a request to that same site, to find out whether it already ships a dark theme.

5. Children

Nocturne is not directed at children under 13 and, collecting no data, processes no information about them.

6. Changes and contact

Any update to this policy will be published on this page with a new date.
