Legible — Support

[email protected]

Legible makes the text on every website easier to read: it raises tiny text to a minimum size, darkens faint grey text, and offers better spacing and reading fonts. Here is how to switch it on, and what to do when a page looks wrong.

Turning it on

1. Open Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions.

2. Switch Legible on.

3. Tap Legible → Permissions → All Websites → Allow. Without that permission the extension cannot adjust anything.

Nothing seems to change

Out of the box Legible only fixes what is hard to read: text under 15 points and faint grey text. A page that already uses readable sizes and colours is left exactly as it is.

For a visible change everywhere, open the popup in Safari and pick the Large or Clear preset, or raise the text size.

A page’s layout breaks

Large text sizes can overflow a site’s fixed-width menus. Open the popup on that site, choose This site, and lower the text size for that site only — or switch Legible off there with the site toggle.

Using Legible with a dark-mode extension

When Nocturne is darkening a page, Legible leaves contrast to it and only adjusts sizes, spacing and fonts.

Settings do not match between the app and Safari

The app and the extension share settings through an App Group. If they drift, close and reopen the app: syncing happens when the app opens and whenever the extension starts. The most recent change always wins.
