Legible — Privacy
Last updated 29 October 2026
Legible is a Safari extension that makes the text on websites easier to read. It does not collect, transmit or sell any personal data. It has no servers, no accounts, and contains no analytics or tracking of any kind.
1. Data we collect
None. Legible collects no personal data, keeps no record of your browsing, and sends nothing to us or to anyone else.
The App Store privacy card for this app is declared as “Data Not Collected”.
2. Why the extension asks for website access
To adjust a page’s text, Legible has to measure its sizes and colours and apply its own stylesheet. Safari describes this permission as “can read and alter web pages”.
All of that happens on your device, while the page is open. Page content is never stored, copied or transmitted.
3. Fonts
The optional reading fonts, Atkinson Hyperlegible and OpenDyslexic, are part of the app and load from it. Nothing is downloaded from any server.
4. Settings
Your preferences — reading profile, presets, per-site profiles — are stored on the device only, in the extension’s local storage and an App Group shared with the app. They never leave the phone.
Deleting the app deletes the settings with it.
5. Children
Legible is not directed at children under 13 and, collecting no data, processes no information about them.
6. Changes and contact
Any update to this policy will be published on this page with a new date.
